My research focuses on the interface between ecology, society and data science. It has ranged from investigating human-wildlife interactions to grassland responses to global changes to exploring agricultural solutions for projected impacts of climate change using state-of-the-art data analysis techniques. Currently, I am creating open source software packages for the automated harvesting and analysis of data from various online sources (e.g., social media, GBIF, EASIN, GLOBI) to support a wide array of stakeholders in tracking invasive alien species expansions across the EU and assessing the invasion risk as well as the socio-ecological impacts of new invaders within the context of the OneSTOP project.
