A New Titan Arum in bloom at Meise Botanic Garden
Today, another titan arum is blooming at Meise Botanic Garden! This specimen stands 121 cm tall. It is the 22nd time that the Garden has succeeded in bringing a titan arum to bloom.
It is a small specimen, but with a remarkable story. This “baby” titan arum is the result of a pollination carried out in 2017, when two titan arums happened to flower at the same time in the Garden. Now, almost nine years later, it is blooming!
It is the first time that we have successfully completed the entire cycle at Meise Botanic Garden — from pollination to a fully developed inflorescence.
You can admire the titan arum in the Plant Palace, where a brand‑new space has been created in the Rainforest Glasshouse, fully adapted to the needs of this extraordinary species. It illustrates Meise Botanic Garden’s commitment to the conservation and promotion of this rare and fascinating plant.
The titan arum will be visible from tomorrow, 27 May, during the Garden’s regular opening hours. Please note that the flowering of the titan arum is a rare spectacle of scents and colours that lasts only 48 to 72 hours.
