Primary education, grades 1-2

We are upgrading our reservation system! You can still request your school visit online, but please note that we will process your application starting from August 15th. Thank you for your understanding!

Create your ideal school visit

Discover our wide range of educational activities and create a visit perfectly tailored to your class and learning goals. Choose from workshops adapted to your age group or explore independently with your pupils. Combine your own educational activity with plenty of fun on the Amaze-Your-Feet' Path. You can also make use of our educational materials to get the most out of a self-guided visit.

We recommend setting aside at least half a day — preferably a full day — so you can enjoy everything at a relaxed pace. Picnic areas are available at the Pachthof and the Orangery, including partially covered spaces. You can put together your own programme:

  • one workshop (half-day visit)
  • a workshop in the morning and a self-guided visit in the afternoon
  • two workshops — one in the morning and one in the afternoon
  • a self-guided visit

Browse the full offer and prices, make your selection, and book via the request form. Visiting with several classes? Please check in advance how many workshops can take place at the same time. Don’t forget to book in time — at least four weeks before your visit. Reservations are also required for self-guided visits.

Workshops

Trees, champions of the plant kingdom

Trees are the majestic creatures of the forest, but they are not alone! The children will explore what else lives in the forest, such as mushrooms, mosses and flowers. They will discover first-hand (literally!) what parts a tree has and what each one is for! The children will get to know the native forest as a habitat and learn the difference between coniferous and deciduous trees through engaging games.

  • Max. 25 pupils per class group
  • Available all year round
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Max. 2 workshops at the same time

Discover the rainforest

Have you eaten anything from the rainforest today? How are cacao and margarine linked to the tropical rainforest? Students can answer these fascinating questions after the first part of the workshop. In the second part they will find out how people and animals use tropical plants and what goes wrong when the rainforest is destroyed.

  • Max. 25 pupils per class group
  • Available all year round
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Max. 2 workshops at the same time

The desert

How can you survive in the desert? Animals can hide from the immense heat, but how do plants protect themselves? What tricks do grey earth cacti use, what are living stones and what does the mother-in-law's chair look like? The children learn that there are not only cacti growing in the desert, that there are deserts in all parts of the world and that it is not always very warm.

  • Max. 25 pupils per class group
  • Available all year round
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Max. 1 workshop at the same time

The material is borrowed for a morning or afternoon session. Please return it clean and in good condition. Charges may apply in case of loss or damage.

Game: A Journey of Discovery in the Plant Palace

During this exciting game, the children use their senses to discover the cocoa tree, the coffee bush, the vanilla plant and the oil palm. Various tasks eventually lead them to a pot of red dye from the orlean tree, with a stop-off at the infamous oil palm. The first to apply the dye to their face is the winner!
