Secondary education - stage 3

We are upgrading our reservation system! You can still request your school visit online, but please note that we will process your application starting from August 15th. Thank you for your understanding!

Create your ideal school visit

Discover our wide range of educational activities and create a visit perfectly tailored to your class and learning goals. Choose from workshops adapted to your age group or explore independently with your pupils. Combine your own educational activity with a visit to the WOODlab. You can also make use of our educational materials to get the most out of a self-guided visit.

We recommend setting aside at least half a day — preferably a full day — so you can enjoy everything at a relaxed pace. Picnic areas are available at the Pachthof and the Orangery, including partially covered spaces. You can put together your own programme:

  • one workshop (half-day visit)
  • a self-guided visit
  • a workshop in the morning and a self-guided visit in the afternoon
  • two workshops — one in the morning and one in the afternoon

Browse the full offer and prices, make your selection, and book via the request form. Visiting with several classes? Please check in advance how many workshops can take place at the same time. Don’t forget to book in time — at least four weeks before your visit. Reservations are also required for self-guided visits.

Workshops

Educational Nature Management

Working for half a day in and for nature with your class? You can do this in the Botanic Garden! The students receive a short theoretical explanation about the how and why of nature management. After that they will start working by themselves. They remove invasive plants and create wooded banks.

  • Max. 25 students per class group
  • Available all year round
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Max. 2 workshops at the same time

Sequoia Challenge

This is a STEM workshop focussing on water transport in plants. Giant trees, such as sequoias, present us with a mystery. How do they manage to transport water from their roots more than 100 metres upwards? Your pupils will solve this mystery through experiments that integrate biology and physics. They will build an artificial tree that transports water just like a real tree and investigate the workings of root pressure and capillarity.

  • Max. 16 students per class group
  • Available all year round
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Max. one workshop at the same time
