Summary
My research explores how plants and ecosystems respond to global change, with a particular focus on the role of microclimate in shaping biodiversity, ecosystem functioning, and tree resilience. The work combines field experiments, trait-based approaches, historical collections and spatial analyses to understand the effects of climate change and urbanization on forests and urban ecosystems. Current projects examine the vulnerability of urban trees to heat and drought stress and how contrasting microclimates—from cold forest interiors to warm cityscapes—affect biodiversity across Belgium.
