Increased traffic safety at ‘de Rotterik’ intersection-The Botanic Garden remains accessible

What & why

  • ‘Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer’ will start traffic works at the intersection ‘de Rotterik (or “den Drijpikkel”)’ of Zijp with Boechoutlaan (N277).
  • Traffic at the intersection will be regulated with traffic lights after the works for increased visibility and safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

Timing & Impact

Nuisance from 10 February to 4 April

  • To carry out the works safely, the entire intersection will be closed to traffic until the end of the works.
  • The short A12 entrance on Nieuwelaan at Plantentuin Meise will be open to cars for the duration of these works.

How do I get to the Botanic Garden?

On foot

  • Pedestrians will experience little or no disruption.
  • Passage towards Brussels and towards Meise will remain possible.

Cyclists

  • Cyclists from Wemmel to Meise and vice versa: the contractor foresees in the current planning via J. Van Gijssellaan, Wilde Rozenlaan and Bloemendreeflaan.
  • Cyclists from Laken to Meise and vice versa: bicycle diversion via the pedestrian bridge in Strombeek-Bever over the A12 at the level of De Villegas de Clercampstraat and the pedestrian bridge at the level of Sint-Annastraat in Meise.

By public transport

  • Buses of De Lijn are affected by the works and will have to make detours.
  • The ‘Meise Plantentuin’ bus stop for line R50 cannot be served.
  • Bus line R50 will be diverted along the parallel road on the other side of the A12. Bus passengers can reach the Botanical Garden via the pedestrian bridge over the A12 (see image). You then get off at the Meise Private dreef stop.
  • Plan your route on delijn.be/routeplanner, the De Lijn app or check the posters at bus stops.
