From flower to fruit

Flowering shrubs

Meise Botanic Garden has an extensive collection of woody species, consisting mainly of ornamental shrubs. You can discover them in a long border along the road behind the Plant Palace. Some of these plants, originating from the previous location of the Botanic Garden in Brussels, were planted here when it moved in 1940. In spring you can enjoy the blossoming of witch-hazel (Hamamelis), mock-orange (Philadelphus), and Chinese bells (Forsythia). In autumn the fruits of the cardinal's hat (Euonymus), the callicarpa, and the Japanese quince (Chaenomeles) grab your attention.
