Archives

The archives of the Botanic Garden date back to well into the 19th century. They offer a wealth of information for both botanical and historical research. In addition to paper documents and letters, we also store collections of photographs, glass negatives, and field notes, among other things.

The archives enable us to examine how scientific research was conducted in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, how ideas spread, and to which degree scientific institutions were interwoven with the political world.

They also offer access to important and often overlooked information and help researchers from various botanical disciplines in Belgium and elsewhere in the world.
