[Science news] - World Flora Online

Mon 18 Jul

From 18 to 22 July, Meise Botanic Garden representatives of the World Flora Online consortium gather. The aim of the now 50 involved institutes worldwide is to build and maintain a global platform for all plants (vascular plants and mosses) containing information about their correct (scientific) name, descriptions, illustrations, their distribution, etc.

Experts from all over the world are asked to share their knowledge here. This facility is essential for protecting and sustainably managing the vegetation on our planet. It is the response of the botanical world to the request from the Global Strategy for the Conservation of Plants (part of the Convention on Biodiversity) for such a structure.
