Magnolias in bloom!
25 Mar-30 AprThis activity is included in the general Botanic Garden ticket. This ticket gives you access to all public areas of the Botanic garden.
When the magnolias are in bloom, you can no longer ignore it: spring has sprung! And once you’ve seen the magnificent magnolias in the Botanic Garden, you’ll soon forget all about the long winter.
You canadmire the early-flowering magnolias in the wide surroundings of the Plant Palace, in the Dahlgren Arboretum and in the rhododendron forest. Many species bloom as early as the end of March, even before there are leaves on the trees. Some plants produce large ornamental flowers, others small or wonderfully fragrant.
The Botanic Garden has a collection of dozens of wild magnolias and cultivars with beautiful names such as the cucumber magnolia (Magnolia acuminata), the umbrella magnolia (Magnolia tripetala) or the lily magnolia (Magnolia liliiflora). There are also yellow magnolias, which can be discovered behind the Plant Palace.
