The National Botanic Garden of Belgium holds living plant collections of more than 25.000 accessions from 17.000 taxa. This material is cultivated for research, conservation and education.
The database LIVCOL is being developed in order to facilitate the management of the collections. The software used is "Progress", a fourth generation relational database management system. The structure allows users to avoid redundancy and to assure the integrity of the information. Programmes are developed with a multi-user-friendly approach. The database holds a wide-range of information about accessions that are, or have been, cultivated at the Garden.
The data presented in the following pages are reported from LIVCOL and only concern the specimens currently held in our collections:

The plant information is limited to the scientific and family name, accession number, conservation value, determination, provenance, source and location in the Garden (click here for details). The following two display procedures are available:
